Bum Trick: Press Your Coffee and be Happy

It is only a matter of spending around 20 bones maximum and you dudes and dudettes out there are sure to have a piping hot brew before you shred the gnarr pow in the early morning sunlight. Take it from me Bob, ya gotta have your coffee before you start skinning in the morning or hit the lifts at the resort.

Today we are talking about the essential caffeinated bean water that we all partake of in the morning. There is truly no better way to enjoy this goodness than a nice coffee press. It’s small and is easily packed along on trips or even on a nice yurt trip in the mountains and all you need is coffee grounds and hot water.

History:
One might think that the vac pot came after the press; however it is quite the opposite. In the mid 1800s the technology existed for a plunger type system, though the filters were inefficient until press pots became more popular in the early 1900s. BONUS! The French call them Cafetiere a` Piston. This is bum lingo for total radness.

What to do?: A press is a simple device to use. Make sure that your grounds are larger so as to filter and brew properly. Put the grounds in the bottom of the press, boil water and put it into the press. Then the plunger/filter goes on the top, not yet pressing down. Wait for about 5 minutes for coffee to brew, then slowly press the filter down to the bottom and pour. Damn that’s good!

Additional Beta:
Get a quality grinder Get a stainless steel press. They won’t break. Buy good fresh coffee beans

So brewhas... I hope you all enjoy the goodness that the press provides this cold winter season. Don’t forget the baileys on the super cold days!
