New England Telemark, Free Heel Life and a handful of Tele - monsters came together with awesome synergy to make the first ever East Coast Freeheel Rail jam happen. It started when Simon Winchell- Manning (AKA – Switchski) requested on FHL a rail jam this year at one of NET’s events. A few e-mails to Biff Higginson and a few calls to Stowe and the ball was rolling. Jessica Foley from Stowe reserved 3 rails for the event, music, and a space near the base for the rail jam. Three true rail monsters came out – yes only three – but the number doubled by the time all was said and done. Hey, isn’t that what it’s all about, getting the numbers to double! Pat Colburn pushed it all day, working the 450s to the down rail to the point of painful groans. Simon busted out Gorilla Steeze - in his shorts - and Zeph Hallowell wasn’t holding back when he went for the disaster to second down on the down-flat-down. The energy these three guys produced got everyone to throw down. Two girls from Stowe also joined us to represent the ladies. After two hours of cheering each other on it was all over. Simon picked up the most votes for 1st from fellow athletes, followed by Pat then Zeph. In the end the placing didn’t matter to anyone. Everyone was stoked to get together, get some new folks involved and to wave the Freeheel flag high. Thanks NET and FHL for coming together to make it happen. See everyone at Sunday River February 25 & 26.
