They call it “Utah’s best kept Secret” which is far from the truth. Beaver Mountain is more than a secret here in Utah; it is an amazing mountain that everyone should visit sometime in the near future. The ‘Beav,’ as the locals call it, is reminiscent of ski resorts from years ago. One main lodge at the base acts as the epicenter of everything that goes on there. The food selections are simple and still reasonable in price and a lift ticket only costs $33! Buy your lift ticket from the owners of the mountain themselves. No joke, the owners are often the ones running the ticket office or the sales for the ski school and everyone is super friendly. Even the lifties are original to the bone. Many of them are Rodeo Cowboys that are taking time off from the rodeo circuit to work on the mountain, cowboy hat and all!
Don’t let the old school vibe of this mountain fool you though, it has its own stashes that are worth the 1 ½ hour drive from Salt Lake City. Fresh POW can often be found in the trees a week after a storm and there are rarely crowds, which make this a great place to visit while you are in Utah.
Après ski activities are limited to none on the mountain, however The Owl bar and grill in nearby Logan is a great place to grab a brew and a burger. Every Thursday night they have a college night with live music as well. So pack your bags and head up to northern Utah for some freshies and good times!
